Author Guidelines for PICO Presentations

PICO presentations are organized in sessions scheduled at so-called PICO Spots. A PICO presentation might be a Power Point one, a movie, an animation, or simply a PDF showing your research on a display. A PICO Spot is a combination of an audience sitting in front of a screen together with a number of Touch Screen Displays. The PICO session starts with a "2-minutes-madness". All authors present the essence of their work with 2 slides in 2 minutes. Afterwards, the audience is using the touch screens spread in the PICO Spot to view again their PICO presentation(s) of interest. PICO (Presenting Interactive COntent) is bringing the advantages of both, oral and poster, together into an innovative type of presentation which opens the opportunity to be interactive.

The PICO sessions are scheduled in four time blocks per day, each time block with 90 minutes. After the "2-minutes-madness" scheduled in one or two time blocks, another one or two time blocks are reserved consecutively for individual PICO viewing, discussions, and questions. However, each PICO Spot provides its presentations throughout the entire day of scheduling for individual viewing before or after the actual session.

Authors are kindly asked to prepare one presentation file fulfilling both needs, the introductory "2-minutes-madness" as well as the following intensive viewing and discussions. Please include the summary of your work on the first two slides followed by an unlimited number of slides going more into detail. The touch screens show a size of 42". The operating system is Windows XP and they have internet access. Please prepare your Power Point in 16:9 widescreen format. The touch screens show three button allowing you to move forwards and backwards in the presentation as well as to access the table of contents (PICO programme) of that particular session. The surface outside of the specific buttons works like a left-click with the mouse, i.e., you can use links inside your presentation.

The PICO presentations are organized centrally. Therefore, authors are kindly asked to upload their presentations either online or at the PICO Preview Centre on-site in the Blue Poster Area (Hall Y, Basement). Both upload options are available throughout the entire conference but please make sure to finalize your upload by 08:30 of the day your PICO session is scheduled. The display time for PICOs is always one full day whereas the session itself is limited to a few time blocks. An assistant will be available at the PICO Spot for any help.
